We were on a tiny Danish island – very picturesque. The small community consists of mainly farmers, retirees, some holidaymakers, sailors and people wanting a peaceful life. A ferry runs between the island and mainland several times a day.
The waters are relatively calm and there are many boats around in summertime. The locals tend to get around on tractors. At times I saw kids who looked no older than 10 driving tractors along the road!! The local shop was the meeting place. Each afternoon the locals would gather there for a beer or two!!
Kert owned quite a large farm. There was a nice house on the property as well as the indoor arena. It was peaceful, yet close to everything.
We were not allowed to film in the arena – or to film Kert – this part of the blog will consist mainly of scenery shots!
So ……. I had this battle going on in my mind….
First – INSPIRATION!!
I was learning that Kert was a very unusual person. He had such a charisma about him!! He was the sort of person you wanted to be around. He made everything sound wonderful and was so knowledgeable. It was like nothing could touch you if you were in his presence. He could inspire you to be bigger, better, stronger, smarter…
As long as you followed his teachings you would become this amazing person who would work with ease with horses – and walk through life in absolute harmony. His assistants showed so much grace – they walked so very upright, were so very polite ….and did everything that was asked of them without question. Most of them were women in their 20s and 30s.
We spent a lot of days listening to Kert talk about symbols and meanings – how he sees our world as the ‘brown world’ and his world as the ‘green world’ like the worlds of the old tribes. His world was clear and calm – the ‘brown’ world was messy and chaotic. His world sounded pretty good!
BUT… there was the other side …
THE TREPIDATION!!!
He is a very convincing person and you don’t even realise you are being drawn into his world – it can happen at such a subtle level. In fact, you get to the point where if he said the sky was green, you would almost believe him!
I had heard him shout at the assistants – and now at some course participants…….. now that must be scary – I thought – to be on the receiving end of that!!! But the shouting wasn’t such a big deal – well maybe it would be if I was shouted at!!
It was something else I pondered…. people would sometimes be singled out – they may have said something, then one thing led to another, and next they would find themselves up in front of the class. Kert would tell us this was a ‘teaching’ for all of us. The person would be ‘delved into’ – like public therapy.. something would come up about their lives or what they did – there would be tears – then finally a resolution. They would normally be very grateful to Kert for helping them with their issue.
At times I was thoroughly confused as it could be hard to follow his teachings. I noticed early on if someone made a criticism, or disagreed, it would be followed by a very long talk on why this person was wrong. In fact it got to the point where we tried not to say anything as Kert would go off track and for several hours talk about a particular point! He would say that ‘destiny’ had brought this up and that we must follow the spiral of destiny.
I just wanted to follow the spiral of destiny to the horses. That’s what I was interested in – to see him work more magic with the horses – and to learn how I could do the same!
COMING UP – MAGIC AND CONFUSION!
