Part 13 – Magnum Talks

I had attempted to tune into Magnum several times since starting conversations with Ducati –  but I wasn’t able to.  Then one day it happened!!!

Oh I could feel his fear – how everything humans wanted of him felt like certain death.  Even if they seemed nice – like me!  He had to keep his distance for self preservation.  He would love to be part of a good human interaction like Ducati – but it was too hard – like jumping off a cliff.  The fear consumed him and he couldn’t get beyond it.

I could relate!  How I longed to ride a horse – but the horse available to me – Ducati – just didn’t seem safe.  He was the nicest, friendliest horse – so willing –  but he was bred for campdrafting – quick turns and speed.  That wasn’t something I wanted in a horse!!

Magnum told me how it irritated him to be valued for his ‘beauty’.  It made awful things happen – like the sale.

But what I have remembered most over all these years is the song he asked  me to sing to him.  I didn’t know all the words – but I sang what I could.  It seemed like a strange song to want me to sing!  For a long time after I first sang it – he would ask again and again..

Each time I sang it,   Magnum would shut his eyes!!  Here it is!

It’s only in recent years I have  realised how significant that song is!  Magnum and I have been so good for each other!!  We truly have rescued each other!!  More about that later on…
