The feature photo shows me with two friends – Rebekka Schulze, who I met last year – and Quilate – who I also met last year!
I talked about him in this post 6. And There He Was – ‘The Grey Horse’.
So of course I wanted to see Quilate again. There he was! I could say he was waiting – but of course he was standing in his yard looking out.
Each lunch hour I spent time with him. We stood together in silence much of the time. It was like all had been said last year. However he did say some things. It was along the theme of ‘thinking outside the box’, questioning what I saw, and believing in myself. I was doubting that I could ever do any of what Anja Beran was doing.
He was saying that if I believed that, it would be a self fulfilling prophecy. I needed to take the first small steps towards it – even just walking one of my horses around the arena – in other words “Do something rather than nothing”. Of course…
I think of what I’ve achieved with Magnum, and I’ve had some wonderful, encouraging comments on that from all around the world, however I STILL doubt myself. I know that recurring thoughts from childhood make huge pathways in the brain – and to change thinking requires effort – so much of it is subconscious – well I will be working on it for the rest of my life!
So here was this horse giving me a pep talk!
We posed for selfies together!
I think of him a lot. And I think of all the hidden treasures horses possess, that humans aren’t aware of. They are so grounding – and so good to be around. They are my every day medicine.
I also think of how many horses are in pain – I was seeing all these horses who had been transformed by the classical dressage exercises. Here they were exercised about 20 minutes to an hour a day – the progress was slow and steady – it allows for the horse to build up strength.
When many of the horses arrive at Anja’s – it is their last hope – they are otherwise on their way to be put down. So here she is rehabilitating these horses, and we can then hear their stories. And they have the chance to share their wisdom – to weave their magic throughout the world!
Visiting Anja’s is inspirational, but now I need to roll up my sleeves and start doing some of this work with my horses!
Now – the other friend in the photo – Rebekka. Rebekka teaches Pilates and is also a clicker trainer. Here is her website I had some Pilates lessons while away and was amazed at the changes in my body. So I have continued having lessons via the magic of the internet!
Coming up next year, Rebekka and I will be launching another blog site. We will be talking about all the questions that arise when clicker training . Stay tuned for that!
